Intuit to Discontinue New Sales of Some QuickBooks Desktop Products in July 2024

Intuit® plans to stop selling new subscriptions for several QuickBooks® Desktop products to U.S. customers after July 31, 2024. The specific versions affected by this change include QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and Enhanced Payroll. Existing subscribers can continue to renew their subscriptions and will still receive security updates, product updates, and support. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is not affected by this change and will remain available for new and existing customers beyond this date.

As for when existing installations will stop being updated and fully functional, support for QuickBooks Desktop 2021 versions, including Pro, Premier, Enterprise Solutions, and Mac, will end on July 31, 2024. This means no more updates or support for these versions, including services like payroll, which will cease to function.

For those using versions beyond 2021, they will continue to receive updates and support as long as they maintain their subscriptions. However, it’s important to stay on a supported version to ensure access to all features and support services.

QuickBooks Desktop 2022 will be discontinued on May 31, 2025. QuickBooks versions 2023 and above will reportedly be canceled on a similar schedule, July 31, 2026. QuickBooks 2024 may see its last day on July 31, 2027. QuickBooks 2023 may see its last day on July 31, 2028, and so on.

Best Alternatives to QuickBooks

Consider moving to a platform that offers the same user-friendly interface but built for the field service contracting industry. You will want scheduling, dispatching, work orders, flat rate pricing, service agreements, built right into your accounting and payroll.

It is also important that you look for a software system that will allow you to keep all your QuickBooks financial data, transactions, and other important records.
